Sharpen your axes and prepare your horns — VikingsCon 2025 returns to La Plata, Maryland, on November 8–9, 2025, bringing Norse history, fantasy, and fandom together in an epic weekend of celebration. This immersive fan convention and living history festival invites visitors to walk among warriors, artisans, and storytellers in a world inspired by the Viking Age and the hit Vikings TV series.

🛡️ Step Into the Viking Village

At VikingsCon, the past comes alive in the Living History Encampment, a sprawling Viking village where reenactors demonstrate daily life from centuries ago. Watch blacksmiths at their forges, cooks preparing hearty stews over open flames, and craftspeople shaping jewelry and tools by hand.

Visitors can participate in reenactments, combat training, and hands-on workshops — learning the art of sword, axe, and shield fighting, or testing their aim in archery and axe-throwing tournaments.

Families are welcome too — children can enjoy face painting, storytelling sessions, shield painting, and even a playful introduction to Viking games at the Kids’ Encampment.

🔥 Feast, Ritual & Fellowship

The heart of VikingsCon lies in its sense of community and tradition. On Saturday evening, VIP and Berserker Pass holders can join the Viking Feast, a banquet featuring authentic dishes served in true Norse fashion. Guests will enjoy live harp music by Michele Mountain, whose performances also accompany the Viking wedding ceremony — a unique and moving event steeped in myth and meaning.

Then, on Sunday around 5 PM, the festival closes with the Dísablót ritual — an autumnal ceremony honoring the Norse gods. Participants burn written petitions in offering, symbolizing renewal and gratitude. It’s a powerful reminder of how ancient customs continue to inspire modern hearts.

Beyond combat and ceremony, VikingsCon is a celebration of creativity and craftsmanship. Visitors can join interactive workshops and educational panels on:

And for the most daring visitors, Ragnarok Overnight Camping offers the chance to sleep among the Norse — under the stars, surrounded by the flicker of campfires and the hum of old songs.

Nestled in Charles County, just 30 miles south of Washington, D.C., La Plata is a peaceful town of around 10,000 residents, known for its lush woodlands and welcoming community. Its easy access via U.S. Route 301 makes it an ideal gathering spot for visitors from across the Mid-Atlantic.

The town’s wide-open spaces and forested landscapes create the perfect backdrop for VikingsCon’s Viking village — a place where history, myth, and imagination blend seamlessly together.
